According to www.by-the-sea.com, Ariel was built by C & R Poillon in Brooklyn, NY in 1893. It was designed by A. C. Smith for owner George H. B. Hill. It measured 109 feet overall.According to the October 1896 issue of Outing magazine, the schooner Ariel was owned by George H. B. Hill and was the flagship of the Seawanhaka-Corinthian Yacht Club. Ariel was designed by A. Cary Smith and launched in 1893 by Harlan & Hollingsworth Company, Wilmington, Delaware.
