Asahi, a 28' 10" fin keel sloop, was one of the Newport
30s, built in 1896 by Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. for E. V. R. Thayer.
According to the August 1896 issue of Outing magazine, Asahi
was owned by Bayard Thayer.
