The 1906 Lloyd's Register suggests two candidates for this vessel: (1) a 58' sloop, formerly named Polly, built by R. D. Wallin in 1885 and in the possession of F. N. Cowperthwaite of New York by 1906; and (2) a 51' cutter built by J. F. Mumm in 1885, and owned by L. D. Armstrong of Greenwich CT in 1906. Which is it? Howard Chapelle refers to the latter vessel in his book The History of American Sailing Ships by , "John F. Mumm was another designer of centerboard sloops; one of his best yachts was the Daphne built in 1885."
