The sloop Hildegarde was among the four New York Yacht Club defence candidates for the 1881 America's Cup. It lost in the trials to Mischief.(What became of Hildegarde? The only Hildegarde listed in the 1906 Lloyd's Register was a 135' steel schooner built in 1897.)
