According to the August 1889 issue of Outing magazine, Katrina was a 70' sloop. According to the September 1899 issue, Robert E. Tod was the owner.

Tom Nye writes us that Katrina was built in 1888 by Henry Piepgras at City Island, NY. He adds: "Iron / Keel, Sloop. L.O.A.: 91'3" x L.W.L.: 69'2" x Beam: 21'6" x Draft: 9'3" Designer: A. Carey Smith. Builder: Henry Piepgras, City Island. Owner: E.S. and H. D. Auchincloss."
