According to the 1897 Record of American and Foreign Shipping, Nydia was an 82.6' wooded-hulled steam yacht built in 1890 at Bay Ridge, NY for owner Isaac E. Emerson. Its homeport was listed as Baltimore during 1897-1900.Captain Isaac Edward Emerson (1859-1937) of Baltimore was the founder of Emerson Drug Company, maker of the popular headache remedy Bromo-Seltzer. (Emerson Drug Company merged with Warner-Lambert Pharmaceutical Company in 1956, and has since become part of Pfizer.) At the time of his death in 1937, he had accumulated an estate of $20 million.
