According to the June 1890 issue of Outing magazine, Queen Mab was a "sister ship" to Thief and Cosette.
According to the August 1896 issue of Outing magazine, Queen Mab was owned by N. L. Francis.
The August 1897 issue of Outing noted, "The elaboration of classes has so divided up the few new racing yachts, that in nearly all of the higher classes a single yacht is cock of the walk, and without a competitor. Queen Mab [was] once the empress of British forty-raters, having earned, during her first racing season, more than $5,000 in cash prizes. Queen Mab was purchased by Mr. N. L. Francis from Mr. Percy Chubb, who now owns the cup defender Vigilant." The June 1898 issue of Outing magazine notes that Queen Mab's owner was H. Chubb.
The June 1900 issue of Outing notes: "Queen Mab [was] imported many years ago by Mr. Percy Chubb, the present Commodore of the Seawanhaka Club and owner of Vigilant. It will be quite interesting to see how much Watson has improved on the Queen Mab, his most
successful 40-rater ..."Lucius H. Smith owned Queen Mab in 1902.
Percy Chubb founded the insurance firm of Chubb & Son. According to Chubb.com (The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies):
"In the spring of 1882, Thomas Caldecot Chubb and his son Percy opened their marine underwriting business in the seaport district of New York City. Having collected $1,000 from each of 100 prominent merchants to start their venture, they focused on insuring ships and cargoes. The Chubbs were adept at turning risk into success, often by helping their policyholders prevent disasters before they occurred. By the turn of the century, Chubb had established strong relationships with the insurance agents and brokers who placed their clients business with Chubb underwriters, and the original subscribers enjoyed a substantial return on their investment in the young company. ..."
