Wanderer

75. Wanderer

Can anyone identify this vessel? Don't confuse this Wanderer to the last US slaver, Wanderer, which was wrecked in 1871.

Bob Birmingham writes us: "I found the following listed in the 1896 List of Merchant Vessels of the United States: Wanderer. There are seven schooners named Wanderer. Only one appears to be the correct length, a schooner yacht built in 1871 at Brooklyn, NY. Her official number was 80179, call letters KCGH, 97.01 gross tons, 92.16 net tons, 105.3 feet in length, 23.6 feet in beam, 8,4 feet in depth of hold, wooden hulled with a home port at New York, NY. Howard Chapelle states in 'History of American Sailing Ships' that this Wanderer was built by Robert 'Bob' Fish of Pamrapo, NJ."
