Wawa was one of the Newport 30s, built in 1895. According to the August 1896 issue of Outing magazine, Wawa was owned by James Stillman.

The July 1896 issue of Outing magazine calls Wawa a "special 30' class" cutter owned by J. A. Stillman.

Photo 121a shows the 31st annual regatta of the Atlantic Yacht Club. "At 12:12, to a one gun start, the thirty footers were sent away and it was generally conceded by all the yachtsmen present that it was the prettiest start any of them had ever see. Just before the signal the pretty little flyers glided up to the mar and hung there, luffing occasionally to keep from crossing ahead of time. When the signal was finally given they turned as though impelled by the same hand and dashed across, not two seconds apart." (Anon.
